I tried an award winning facial cleansing brush and can’t believe the difference it has made. I'm quite devoted to keeping my skin in good condition, but usually deal with breakouts and flare ups after wearing makeup or changing my routine too much.
Wearing a full face of makeup is a rarity for me these days, but when I've had on full-coverage foundation, setting powder, mascara, contouring and eyeshadow, it can often feel impossible to get my face clean. When my skin is feeling really down, like it has the past few weeks, it can be a huge task to get it back on track.
Usually I rely on cleansers, exfoliants and face masks to get my skin feeling somewhat better. But now I think I’ve found a new solution, the FOREO Luna 4.
What is the FOREO Luna 4?
The Luna 4 is a facial cleansing and massaging device from Swedish skincare company FOREO. The brush uses T-Sonic pulsations and silicone touchpoints to remove impurities in the pores. It is priced at £269.
FOREO’s T-Sonic technology is trademarked and claims to have been clinically proven to remove 99% of dirt, oil and makeup residue. It also vows to promote circulation, lymphatic drainage, and absorption of active ingredients.
The Luna 4 is also bacteria-resistant to reduce breakouts and claims to be the brand’s most gentle Luna yet. It is 100% waterproof and I found it really easy to clean. Thanks to it being non-porous, it prevents bacteria build-up, while also being soft and smooth making it suitable for all skin types.
What does it do?
The Luna 4 offers a personalised cleansing and skin maintenance experience, even for those with combination skin types. The device can even connect to your phone via its app, which helps you better understand the different ways it can be used. You can also use the app to control the brush for set cleansing or massage routines.
Does it work?
My skin hasn’t been at its best for the past few weeks, there’s no doubt about that. From the (sometimes dramatic) change in weather conditions to being poorly for some of the time, my skin has suffered for it all.
Breakouts, clogged pores and dry skin were among the worst signs my skin wasn’t doing great - but within a week the FOREO Luna 4 has got me feeling my best.
Throughout the week I took the time to use the device manually and via the app, on cleansing and massage modes. I found the app’s routines really helpful, but if you’ve got certain problem areas you want to target, being able to guide the device yourself is definitely a perk.
As instructed, I applied my favourite cleanser - the Vitamin C Cream Cleanser C1 from FaceTheory - to my cheeks, chin and forehead before wetting the device before applying it to my face. I found using it manually was most useful during this time when my skin is so run down, as I could focus on the areas more impacted - specifically my t-zone.
Using the Luna 4 I was able to clear out my pores and deal with my dry skin like I never have before - and it took seconds. In less than a minute, my skin was feeling lighter and brighter.
Throughout the week I continued to use the device, focusing on different areas too, as well as using the massage function to help apply some of my favourite products, including The Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp Pore Clearing and Oil Control Serum from Selfless by Hyram and the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, which have definitely helped revitalise my skin. By the end of the week my skin felt so refreshed and clear that it felt like I’d had a professional treatment.
What do other people say?
The Luna 4 has racked up many rave reviews online, including some which call the product a “great investment” and “worth buying.” Among the reviews, one person said: “I’ve been using FOREO Luna 4 for a few weeks, the result amaze me, felt my face skin clean and soft.”
A second wrote: “I love my Foreo. I brought this a month ago. My skin is so soft and smooth. What a great investment!!!”
A third shopper added: “I updated from a mini LUNA 2 to LUNA 4. I love how refreshing & clean my face feels after using. The massage feature helped me in determining this was the new device for me. After applying my serum, the pulsating massage definitely helps my products absorb better. You will definitely notice a difference in your skin after using; worth buying.”
However, another shopper said: “I have used this device for over a year now, and I can definitely say that it doesn’t compare to my Clarisonic. The cleansing is sub par, the app is pointless, and the silicone nubs feel awful on my face. To top it off it only works with certain cleansers, and must be very wet to work at all. I consider this a huge waste of money.”
If the FOREO Luna 4 isn’t for you, the brand also offers the Luna 4 Mini or the original Luna device. TempleSpa also offers the Clean Up Your Act Facial Cleansing Brush for £50, while Boots has the No7 Radiant Results Revitalising Sonic Action Cleansing Brush for £32.95.
LookFantastic also has the PMD Clean Pro RQ for £123.75
